Top Pick Tuesday

Every week I will recommend a good, graphic novel/series to check out. This is good for anyone who wants to get into comics, but don't know where to start or people who already read comics, but need something new to read.

This week it's Joseph's Michael Straczynski's Thor

There was a huge battle called Ragnarok where all of the gods died including Thor. Donald Blake, Thor's living alter ego, connects to the afterlife and brings back Thor. This story is all about Thor bringing back everything he has lost, his kingdom Asgard, his people, and even his enemies. He must rule a kingdom of restless warriors who he has a hard time keeping their loyalty. Loki, who is reborn as a woman, is always using tricks and undermining his brother, Thor's authority. Thor also has to balance his life with Donald Blake's, sharing the same body.

There are so many colorful characters to love in Thor's family like, the Warriors ThreeBalder, and Sif. One thing that I love about this series was all the down to earth themes Thor dealt with being such a godly like hero. He visits New Orleans after Katrina, travels to Africa to fight off mercenaries, and living up to his father's standards. There is also a nice issue in there dealing with Civil War and Captain America's death. Plus there is a really great origin for Loki. If you are remotely interested in Thor then I highly suggest this series, it is by far the best Thor story I have ever read. So what are you waiting for? Get it now

  1. I know a little about Thor from when I was younger and we learned a little about the gods. Then Thor was in Avengers. I want to watch the Thor movie that came out a while ago.

  2. Well this Thor is a little different, but definitely take a look at this much better than the Thor movie
