Comic Con Movie Buzz (Superman/Batman, Avengers 2, and More)

For those of you who haven't gotten a chance to check out Comic Con news we got some big announcements this year in media. Warner Brothers announced that they are doing a SUPERMAN/BATMAN movie.

This will be the sequel to Snyder's Man of Steel film and will be directed by him. Personally I think they should establish a new Batman movie. Maybe Warner Brothers is trying to rush a Justice League movie to compete with Marvel.

Speaking of Marvel, they announced the title for the second Avengers film. Ultron is a cool villain, but I am a little disappointed because we have to wait to see Thanos on the big screen again, unless they squeeze him into this as well, but I doubt it. This will have nothing to do with the recent event that was done by Brian Michael Bendis and Hank Pym will not be involved. ComicBookMovie.com interviewed director Joss Whedon.

"We're doing our own version of the origin story for Ultron. In the origin story, there was Hank Pym, so a lot of people assumed that he will be in the mix. He's not. We're basically taking the things from the comics for the movies that we need and can use. A lot of stuff has to fall by the wayside."

This kind of disappoints me because Hank is one of my favorite characters and Ultron being one of his greatest sins is core to his character. Although Hawkeye fans will be happy.

"A lot of the movie has to do with their place not just in America, but the world. Part of the fun for me, definitely this time around, is writing Hawkeye. He did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and had to walk around all scowly for most of the movie so now it's nice to actually have the character there and see him interact with the other guys."

We also got some clips and teasers for you too.

Despite my negative comments I'am still excited for the new movies and can't wait to see them. Feel free to comment and give me your thoughts.

Hey guys and gals, I'm suppose to do a character, but I don't really think I can do one every week in the same detail and I'm still playing around with this blog. So instead I'm going to combine Top Pick Tuesday with Character of the Week. So this week I am recommending  Mark Waid's and Alex Ross's KINGDOM COME.

I know I have raved about Mark Waid (DAREDEVIL, IRREDEEMABLE, FLASH), but in case he doesn't draw you in (I don't see why he wouldn't) I would buy any comic where Alex Ross does the interior art. Ross mostly does covers for comics, but when he does a whole comic every panel is a treat.

Norman McCay (A preist who inherts visions of the future from his old dying friend Sandman) is the narrator of the story. He travels with The Spectre and see's recent events unfold after Superman and many other heroes have been gone for 10 years. Modern superheroes are more violent and rash and after Parasite accidentally exposes Captain Atom's skin during a fight a nuclear explosion erupts destroying Kansas, and parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri. Superman decides to come out of his 10 year retirement to guide the next generation of heroes.

The story goes into themes of man looking at heroes as gods, moral values and prophecies of armageddon. It is a classic highlighting characters Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spectre, Captain Marvel, and Lex Luthor. Even Deadman has a small, but great moment. The only complaint I have is that there are so many characters in the background that they never go into detail about. I understand that they added a lot of characters and it would take up way too much time to tell everyone's story, but Dick Grayson and Starfire had a daughter and I didn't know until after I read the character index in the back. But it is not that bad I can understand since it is not about them it is manly about the characters I mentioned. So go pick this up like I said it is a classic. There is also a fan film trailer check it out.

Man of Steel Trailer 3

First off I would like to apologize for not posting for the past few weeks. I have been really busy with school and work, but I'm gonna squeeze more time into this. I don't know if I have casual readers, but I still feel like I should make an apology and be professional. With that let's take a look at the newest "Man of Steel" trailer.

Henry Cavill  puts on the cape this time and while I haven't seen a lot of his acting I did enjoy him in "Immortals". This isn't Zack Snyder's first time adapting a comic into a movie. I'm a huge fan of "300" and "Watchmen" and have high hopes for this film.

Hopefully this is the film Superman deserves, because I am not a fan of any of the Superman movies. They always used Lex Luthor  as the main protagonist, in most of them, when Superman has a huge rogues gallery of villains to use like Doomsday, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Cyborg Superman and many others. Not saying I hate Luthor, he's a great villain for Superman, but they didn't change things up in the movies.

I'm also hoping this will do well as the starting point for a Justice League movie. I would love to see Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern , and Martian Manhunter all standing together on the big screen. What do you guys and gals think?
