Character Of The Week 5/18

Every week I will be giving a random comic character some spot light. This week it's Eric O' Grady (3rd Ant-Man)

Created by Robert Kirman and Phil Hester, Eric O'Grady was first introduced in CIVIL WAR: CHOOSING SIDES #1 as a preview for his series IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN. Usually a writer will make a character not so perfect so he can be more relatable, but this Ant-Man was a sleazy dirtbag at times. Why is that a good thing? Well we usually enjoy train wrecks and characters who act like assholes. We usually hold ourselves back so it is funny to see a character who just does whatever they want and not suffer consequences from it like Archer from FX's Archer or Roger from American Dad.

Eric O'Grady has done some bad things in the past, besides spying on girls while they take a shower his best friend Chris (Who originally had the Ant-Man suit) was killed because Eric pushed him to get to an exit first and Chris ended up getting shot in the head. Eric took the suit off of Chris's dead body. He made out with Chris's girlfriend on his grave and later had sex with her. He has also said some disrespectful things to Stature (The daughter of Scott Lang the second Ant-Man) about her dad who was dead at the time.

He later joined the Thunderbolts and he didn't like being a part of the team, but he started to redeem himself when he was part of Steve Rodger's Secret Avengers. Eric knew he did some pretty shitty things, and he did feel bad about his friend Chris dying and working for Norman Osborn so Steve Rogers personally picked him to be part of the Secret Avengers, because he saw potential and good in him. Currently Eric died and was reborn as a robot called Black Ant, he fought the Secret Avengers and Venom has a vendetta against him. I'm kind of disappointed with the recent stuff that happened to him, but characters always find a way back to default. Eric took advantage of his suit's abilities, but he wanted to right his wrongs and improve himself this made him more realistic and easy to relate to and that is why I think he is a great character.

Suggestions- IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MANTHUNDERBOLTSANT-MAN & WASPSECRET AVENGERS.
