Superior Spider-Man, Love Hate Relationship

Warning- This involves plot details about Superior Spider-Man issue nine, there will be spoilers you have been warned!

So let's go over the issue first. Doc Oct uses a machine in attempts to erase Peter Parker from his mind completely. There is a fight between Peter and Otto inside their mind. Peter gets backup from memories of his friends and family and everything seems to be going his way, but Otto counters with all of his fears and failures.

Eventually it becomes a one on one fight, they both rip off their own faces and fight in their Spider-Man costumes. Peter talks about how he would never kill and how power and responsibility means nothing to Otto. Otto retorts by saying how much crime has gone down and Massacre killed over 30 people because Peter didn't kill him. In the end Otto tells Peter that he doesn't deserve to be Spider-Man and wipes Peter from his mind.

When I first read Amazing Spider-Man 700 I was disappointed that Otto was the Superior Spider-Man, but then I gave it a chance and it wasn't bad. He is trying to adapt, doing things Peter wouldn't normally do. Issue six was great seeing his painful childhood and he takes it out on Jester and Screwball giving more depth to his character. The issue where he realizes that he can't date Mary Jane because it would put her in danger (thank god that would have been awkward). I love the spider bots, the new costume, but issue nine I have mixed feelings about. I know Peter wasn't doing much as a ghost, but I still felt comfortable having him around knowing he wasn't completely gone. Maybe Dan Slott had a piece of Peter still alive just in case fans gave too much backlash and once they were comfortable with the idea he killed him? With all of this said I'm still going to pick up the next issue to see where it goes, and it's only one issue so we don't know if Peter is totally gone yet. Comments? How do you guys and gals feel about Superior Spider-Man so far?
